A native of Nashville, Ellison began work in the industry in 1995, by starting his first consulting business. In 1999, Ellison helped found eDatCat, Inc., a company that produced e-commerce software. Under Ellison’s leadership, eDatCat produced the top developer-rated software product in its category for three years straight. During this time, Ellison launched distributorships in four countries and nurtured relationships with celebrity clients. In 2001, the company’s flagship software product was featured on Good Morning America and in the book Inside Dreamweaver MX. In 2002, having ridden the dot-com bubble to shore, Ellison returned to his true passion- branding. Soon after, Ellison helped create Mojoloco, llc, and the Revolution was born.
In the past 5 years under Ellison’s leadership, Mojoloco has evolved into the premier social media consultancy in the state of Mississippi. Mojoloco was Mississippi’s first agency to create an outsourced social media management offering. Mojoloco has also produced a proprietary promotional platform for Facebook, competing nationally with the likes of Wildfire, Woobox, and North Social. Mojoloco has represented some of Central Mississippi’s better known brands including The Natchez Trace, Miskelly Furniture, Mississippi Great River Road, Courthouse Racquet Club, Mississippi Children’s Museum, Southern Beverage, Bankplus, Brown Bottling Group, Patty Peck Honda, and Sanctuary Spa at Saint Dominics. Mojoloco also represents numerous state and local entities and national brands such as At West End, Retriever Services, Peabody Hotel Group, Malco Theater Group, and others.
Ellison’s job is to keep Mojoloco ahead of the curve and to provide strategic guidance for Mojoloco clients. When you bring an idea to the Mojo Round Table, be prepared to have it challenged and scrutinized- Ellison is a true Devil’s Advocate. In El’s world, no idea is off-limits. The bigger and bolder, the better.
In his spare time, Ellison cycles 70 miles per week, and loves to hunt, cook, or work in his vegetable garden. He lives at the Reservoir with his twin 3-year-old’s Hardy and Jillie.
