Stand-out examples of well-built Facebook pages…

Big brands demonstrate the best use of Facebook by far. Getting millions of fans may not seem like a big deal for Coca-Cola or Victoria’s Secret, but these companies managed to create fan pages that engage users on a much deeper level than by just asking them to click the “Like” button. An interesting trend seen across this category is of large companies taking Facebook to a new level, putting it at the center not only of their social media campaign, but of their entire online presence.

Does PR play a role in social media marketing?

Social media is about joining or enabling conversations…not controlling them. Understanding the nature of those conversations is key to being a successful social media marketer. So, while social media is certainly a viable outlet for PR efforts within a greater social media strategy, it is far from being synonymous with public relations. So, despite what is now fashionable, PR will always be PR, and social media will always be social media. Understanding what PR is and what social media is will remain crucial in combining them successfully.

The Future of Flash…is there a future?

Well…according to Steve Jobs at Apple…the answer is no.  I have been and am currently on the fence on this issue.  I think Flash can add an enhancement to some sites that straight html/css coding sometimes can’t.  But…on the other side of the issue…the content is the overall end result.  If you feel that no [...]

Great article last week in AdWeek. The supposed media value of a fanbook fan is $3.60 per year. In other words, based on the amount of exposure/word of mouth a single fan generates for your brand, if you have 5,000 fans, you would have to spend $18,000 per year in traditional media to generate the same amount of awareness.

Facebook to Scrap `Become a Fan Of’ for `Like’…

Facebook is about to change the way it asks its users to connect to brands and celebrities on the site. Rather than ask people to “become a fan” of say, Starbucks or Lady Gaga, Facebook will instead let users click that they like the subject. Facebook already lets people show that they like comments or pictures posted on the site, and it says users click that term almost twice as much as they click “become a fan.” Facebook says changing the button will make users more comfortable with linking up with a brand and will streamline the site.

Happy Time!

I find the following very useful and poignant. Charlie Chaplin penned this on the day of his 70th birthday:
As I began to love myself I found that anguish and emotional suffering are only warning signs that I was living against my own truth.
Today, I know, this is “AUTHENTICITY”.
As I began to love myself I [...]
